Hauskaa Pillars
01
Locally Owned
Many people don’t realize that many Portland-area mental health clinics are owned by out-of-state investment firms, often from the East Coast, focused on maximizing profit. These firms reshape clinics to fit corporate models, often at the expense of quality care.
Hauskaa Psychiatry is proudly locally owned. Founder Elliott has lived in Oregon his entire life, and we are committed to keeping our business, values, and impact rooted in the Pacific Northwest.
02
Excellence
“Be excellent at what is good and be excellent to each other.” Paul and Ted
In all areas of practice and person we strive to be excellent. At Hauskaa Psychiatry we want to be excellent at what we do and always continue to grow. We seek to hold a high standard for ourselves in clinical practice and personal example. We work hard to be on the frontlines of mental health care, seeking always to be up to date on any new clinical recommendations or therapy modalities that may be helpful for our patients. We innovate and look to the horizons of mental health with joyful hope at the ever growing world of mental health.
03
Environmental Stewardship
Everyone has a role in caring for the Pacific Northwest and the planet. At Hauskaa, we believe environmental stewardship supports both community well-being and mental health. Though we’re a mental health clinic, we strive to be as eco-conscious as possible—recycling responsibly, composting coffee, and encouraging eco-conscious commuting for staff. Elliott often rides his fixed-gear bike to work, and we offer staff a monthly stipend for biking, using public transport or driving EVs to work.
04
Culture of Honor
In all things, we seek to outdo one another in showing honor. We seek to create a work environment that is not built upon competition, insecurity, power dynamics or control but rather collaboration, safety, servanthood and trust. We seek to look out for the interest of each other, not only our own. We want to build a culture of servant-hearted leadership. We work hard to honor our patients as well, showing them the value, dignity, worth and importance that they hold as people.
05
Do Good
We seek to do good, because it is. We try to find creative ways to make each other's lives better both as coworkers and patients and fellow humans. This means that our team actively meets and strategizes ways that we can go above and beyond for each other and our patients.
06
Transparency
We value transparency in a world where scandals often shake organizations and hurt people. We are working on developing unique ways to be transparent financially as a company, transparent in our weaknesses and struggles, and transparent in our intentions. We want to have integrity and all that we do.
07
Generosity
We believe that a business should make the community that it lives in better. We believe in joyful generosity. We seek to give back to the community and the mental health world. We do this by hosting graduate students, volunteering our time with trusted non-profits, and partnering with organizations that make our world better.
